RELEASE OF DAM WATER IN KERALA

From the desk of Mrs. Baby Abraham . . . . . .

RELEASE OF DAM WATER IN KERALA

1.  Text Box: Mega kitchens of India produces meals for lakhs of people everyday. In time of floods they can provide on days production for the flood hit areas which can be delivered by flight and it  will reach the needy within one or two hours !! How efficient our management  of disasters has reached.  With the sincere effort of locals along with the army, navy, and air force , how quickly the evacuation and rescue are being done.
2.  Provision of generator ( diesel or kerosene or solar )  in the camps can help people to charge their mobiles.
3.  Small solar lanterns with mobile charging facility, and torch is quite handy and affordable.  Someone can even sell them in the camps quickly since there is no electricity in the camps.
4.  Since the atmospheric air is so clean, the rain water collected will be potable , specially on mountain areas. Using the old fashioned way of collecting water with the help of cloth/ sari / veshti can enable them to tide over the present situation . Sailors also practiced this.
5.  When all roads are under water leaving no land mark to identify the stranded communities, and the tree tops hiding the visibility more strenuous, sheet or sari of white color , if prominently displayed from the terrace or from windows from the flats
will enable the helicopters or boats to reach the vicinity fast. Even on ordinary days, finding the correct address is so difficult for people from other state and even for our own people. How much more difficult when all land marks are inundated .
6.  Carrying the heavy parcels is very difficult. Just a strong wooden plank with four wheels and a pulling rope will ease the burden of transferring the heavy loads without any strain. Even IAS officers are carrying heavy loads . All our “ nokku kooli groups  “ will be very angry !!!!
7. For unloading heavy parcels, use a strong hook  and a pulley and strong rope or steel wire to bring the load down without much human effort. The hook can be hooked on to the branch of a tree if the vehicle is parked under it or on the rings of the porch or wherever feasible. Raise the parcel with the help of the pulley slowly , manures it , guiding in the direction and lower it slowly. Work done. Since volunteers are not used to these sort of work, these small devices will ease their hardship or else all will have back problem !
8. Some pulley system for delivering food and other provisions can be installed in the sloppy areas where accessibility is risky.
Not of great expenditure and can be easily installed. Strong ropes or steel wire  fixed at the top and the ground level . Just like the cable cars but with smaller containers  or baskets to transfer the necessary items !!
Then people need not climb the slippery sloppy hilly areas.
9 Packets of " Aval  Vilayichathu " , chocolates,  peanut fried, fried and sweetened , bars , balls  or squares
( nutritious and not costly ) Even Kilas manasarover pilgrims carry with them these for so many days .
Flavoured milk in sealed plastic cover as water packets so that plenty can be delivered without difficulty .
Juice also in sealed plastic cover as water packets so the large number can be made within no time. Since we had plenty of fruits, the preserved canned fruits can be just blended and made into juice .
Mixture packets are packets of nutrition .
Jaggery syrup with plenty of dehydrated / dried fruits and nuts and made into squares or balls .
Chappathi dough with jeera , pepper  broken nuts and with any other flavouring , made into crisp chappathi can stay longer and will be useful for the next one or two months. Not costly to make .
