THE BURDEN OF
PROMISES
Promises once made
, is a great responsibility, if you take them really seriously, until
you fulfil them all eyes are watching , specially when it is declared
publicly. Promises and vows at
marriage if taken seriously, all houses would have been “ little paradise “ . When
we take each family , we encounter different types of paradise, heaven,
hell and sometimes even worse than all
these . Usually this is brought by the
people in the house. The most dear ones . Occasionally a troupe of outsiders
march in with all vulgarity which they profess to be the best language and behaviour
they know of . They twist every word , every action even giving a cup of coffee
or a glass of water .
“ Childish mother in law “ and “ matured young
daughter in law “ , even father –
daughter or father in law and daughter in
law or brother in law … the list goes on . Then the “ transforming and moulding
and modelling by religious group add
their share .
If the election manifesto
keep “ reasonable promises “ taking into consideration the economic , political
, religious scenario prevailing in the country , then consequent consequences
than can ensue if certain “ promises “ are fulfilled at the expense of others ,
can be averted . Otherwise scenes of “ India
– Pakistan partition “ scenario will burst
forth . We must prevent it at all cost . We have seen it once and endured it .
We should not create another one with
our promises. Promise only what you can deliver
and then
deliver “ much
more that what was promised “ . As we
undertake any job , at each step , new vistas of advanced developmental
opportunities open up before our eyes which we can incorporate into the
existing ones without much additional cost .The country and the people will
marvel at it . THEN each and every Indian will shout
out “ JAI HIND “ not wailing and weeping and agonised mobs .
Demolition effects similar
to demonetisation effects, are still “
raw and scathing “ in our mind .
Riot is like
opening a brimming dam . No one can control it till they are
satisfied !!!
If we promise the children that we will be back home
at 6 or 7
In the evening and if we reach by 4 or 5 o clock , little
children will jump for joy. If too late ,
they may even sleep off disappointed after
the long wait. When government start building
programs or financial assistance programs and if the completion is on time as promised and have
been delivered on time or prior to the delivery date , the people are
enthusiastic and ecstatic about the government and the department When we
are given a promise , we trust them and their promise . If is too delayed the enjoyment and the urge to celebrate is dampened and we just “ endure “ the inaugural function .
At the time of Independence, the government
promised all religious communities who
had lost their houses and possession to relocate them and re establish them as
early as possible . Even in that tumultuous period ,
they did it !!!! After the
partition , India government did the wonderful job of establishing and re
establishing all the displaced people within India as well as people from
Pakistan. Now when we acquire land for construction of high ways and other projects, are the
displaced people provided with
alternative housing . Compared o the
1947 condition, we have peaceful atmosphere , more than enough finance and
building
resources , man power and technology. Within an year
multi storied buildings come up !. We can
provide these people with houses if we desire so . The scenario at the time of
partition and independence is so
different . At present there are so many construction which are completed in
very short time . 2 or 3 percent of the
lakh crore projects funding can be utilised for the displaced people . Still
compared to their loss , it is nothing .
