INFRASTRUCTURE
FOR FARMERS
1
. HEAVY RAIN, FLOODS AND THE
REMNANT OF WATER PRESERVED !
The Infrastructure of dams, canals, reservoirs,
lakes, pond, man made lakes
2. STORAGE
OF RAIN WATER HARVESTING IN THE GOVERNMENT BUILT CANALS FROM THE DAMS , IN
THEIR ENTIRE LENGTH
The entire route of the canals from the
overflowing dams empty themselves in to the sea which is ever receptive of all
the water and still never complain or overflow !!
If
the entire length of this canal is divided
into compartments by having walls of 2 -3 -4 , 5 feet high depending on the height of the walls
of the canals . we can store that much water all along the canal length by each
rain. These walls should be well below
the height of the canal side walls. Otherwise
the flood water will spill over to the land and damage will be much more. These
low walls across the canals , one or two miles apart , can keep that much water
in every rainy season. Ground water level will increase. Crops will have enough
water if they use it sparingly for the
first ten years. By that time ground water level will reach new heights and
pumping ground water becomes easy. We need not go beyond 20, 30, 40, 50 60, 60
feet depth. Since we replenish the water, it is easy for us to draw them back
for our needs. Thus we will have plenty of water through out the years. . The maintenance of the wall across the canals
are very important. Otherwise , after torrential rain , all water will flow out
and the whole canal will be drained . Then the canal has to wait for the
opening of the dam for some water . Instead they can make their own storage in each
compartment. Already the infrastructure is made available by the government
spending enormous amount of money. Why not make use of this Infrastructure. Why
should farmers go to Delhi to bring water to their state. In India only very few states have deficiency
in rain. All others have more rain water than they can ever store in these “:
INFRASTRUCTURE “ of dams, canals, lakes,
ponds . man made lakes , wells in every household . The problem is no one want to put in their
share. Governments has provided the infra structure for farmers. These are the
canals from the dams. In areas where scanty rainfall persist, other means are
required. The government built canals
which run the length and breadth of the country can hold enormous amount of
water from each rain in very one or two kilometer compartments. Think of the volume of water we can have at
our disposal freely from nature . Should
we wait for these dams to be opened for
our needs.
If we want self sufficiency, we can achieve
it since the infrastructure is made and
given in some places. Once those who have them at their disposal , and make
good care of it and put it into use, the government can concentrate on other
areas to make infrastructure for them. Those who already have them can show
others what they do with the help of the government. Help the government to serve better. Help the
government to serve others also.
Help the government to use the resources at
their disposal for the people in every nook and corner of the country. Together we progress. How far has the farmers succeeded in using
good use of the infrastructure which the government provided . Can anyone show that they continued the good work of the
government. Can any state show how they instructed the people how to make use of each infrastructure which cost so
much and are lying in ruin .
Instead of keep on asking, use all the
facilities and resources which you have. You will prosper .Country will progress
. Once this lamentation is over people will have energy, hope and vision and
plans to fulfill their dreams. The vibration in the country will be of gladness
of fulfilled aspirations and fruitful hard work which will ease to more easy
handling of situations , even water problems .
A little care and upkeep goes a long way .
What great expenditure to make 500 or 600 or 700 feet bore wells to tap the water from such
depth . We can easily direct the lovely rain
water that we get so abundantly and
collect them in our lakes and ponds and wells and dams . We can save so much finance that is spend on
very deep bore wells. Rain water is any day far superior to deep bore well
water which may have traces of poisonous gases and elements . Choose the easy, less expensive way and make
use of the canals that government has built for the farmers . Make them understand
that these are the infrastructure for farming sector and help them to tap the
full potential of these canals by directing all water to them. They think that
once the government make the canals , it is the duty of the government to make
water run through them althrough the year .
The lack of education and lack of proper understanding of how each step the government takes need
their co operation and continued maintenance and upkeep and replenishing
continuously to draw from hem incessantly . Unless you collect excess , you
cannot use lavishly. Your go downs must be full for export. We import what
other countries store up from their excess .
How much farmers and the local authorities
do for maintenance and upkeep of these infrastructure which cost lakhs of
crores of rupees for the exchequer and
for taxpayers. How much rain water harvesting
is done in these canals.
All
are under the impression that the canals are just to bring from the dam
and it is the job of the government. Everyone at each one kilometer length can
store rain water or do any water harvesting method from the near by houses or towns
or hills . within few years all the wells will have enough
water that we may not need five hundred feet or eight hundred feet bore wells which cost so much money.
Replenish the ground and the farm and the
wells . and we will have water at twenty or thirty feet .
The ingenuity of Ladakh people is
marvelous. Where water is scarce , they
made man made little “ ice stupas “ or ice mountains which can provide them water
for the 3-4 months of summer. They have made ice stupas in several places and
their cultivation is smooth and profitable. The expense for the making the ice stupas is very minimum. Only
one or two or three pipes and some ropes or clothe or tree twigs and a pipe connection for water for initiating the ice formation . If
up in the Himalayas, they can have their own infrastructure for water for
irrigation, we in delta and plains with plenty of rain have to do much super
ingenuity work with the multi crore infrastructure already placed. How
enthusiastic are the farmers to make use of what they have in their possession
! How will the government feel if
all their planning and execution lie dilapidated after few years without maintenance and without being profitable for the people
for whom they were made in the first place . With the infrastructure , could they produce
more or do they have to still go to Delhi to bring the rain water from Delhi to
fill their canals and fields !!!! Why
can’t they direct the rain water to canals and collecting ponds and lakes.
Neglect of so many years are telling on them .
In Kerala every 3-4 months it rains heavily
. If conservation is done properly, and
necessary precautions like keeping the river sand in it’s the river bed to keep
the water collected in them , we can succeed in our endeavours. Greed from
grabbing from the river, from the land , from the water sources have negative effect and now we are
struggling to place each one in its proper designated place. The same way position of father, mother,
children, should not be encroached upon by nuns and priests and bishops and
marriage relations or their employees and paid workers . Once the order of society is turned upside
down , we will see everything upside down .
Our correct stature is altered. Everything becomes crooked and devious.
What is the solution .
3. Godowns and large storage buildings are already in abundance with and without solar power cooling. It is a great boon for all the farmers since they can keep their perishable goods and preserve them for selling when the price is reasonable and profitable .
