WATER WOES OF DELHI
Here they have
clean running water for 24 hours all through the year.
It not lack of
water. It is not polluted water.
It is not intermittent supply of water.
It is only a
broken pipe.
Solution lies in
how a broken water line can be restored .
The solution is
simple. Just call a plumber. Buy some material such as coupling, bend, junction
box , pipe line of 10 – 15 feet or so for extension of the line to fix it on the wall nearby .
Once the line is
fixed on the wall, add 6 or 10 or 15 taps from that point on either side . All
the people can collect water simultaneously instead of standing in queues for
hours . women have so much work to do. men have so much work to do. Children have so much to study. Who has
got time to stand in queues for
this “ living water “ which sustains all people
and animals and vegetation .
Alternatively if
space allows, keep 3-5 large or medium poly… vessels we use as water tanks .
Keep 10 or more taps all around so that the collection of water is made easy.
Any way people stand there till they get water. Why not reduce the time by
adding more taps to the water tank. A non return valve can prevent overflow of
excess water.
No wastage of
water .
These “ Little
things “ make the life of the people who do not have running water in their
houses .
Do we need netas and leaders to bring a plumber for a
leaking pipe ?We
need their help to BRING water to the metro.
But fixation of a tap cost Rs. 100 maximum. !! Use
the time of netas for greater things which are not possible individually. That
way we can achieve greater important things in short period of time .
Approach them for
higher and more demanding problems and projects so that they also will feel that their designation
can successfully solve much grave problems of the community whom they
represent .
If the people contribute for the repair and
modification of the broken pipe line, each family may have to pay Rs 20 or 50
!!!
work is done instantly.
life is made
easier and comfortable for the
community.
This is the
initiative of democratic country and its citizens .
We had a similar problem. The road was getting flooded due to a broken
pipe line underneath. I informed the water authority and they promptly came and
investigated. The line that was broken belonged to the house opposite to ours.
Since all in that house were away at work. I paid the worker the money needed
to buy the parts and materials needed for the repair work and got the work done
.
The funny part is
that when the people of that house came back in the evening, I sent the bill to
them for the materials bought. She said their pipe is alright and will not pay
back the money. I said alright. It is for the metro water authority and for the people of Chennai !!! No depletion of water by leakage .
Few months later,
suddenly one day the money was returned saying that when they had some pipe
line problem, they called the water authority. The same worker came to repair.
He told them that few months earlier, their pipe line was broken . The opposite
house people informed the authorities and he only repaired it . and the cost
was born by us . She was the convinced. How much our own neighbours trust one
another !!!! Can we expect help from them . Even
for Rs 50 =00 we do not trust one another .
Our liberty, freedom comes alive when we use
it for others also. Suddenly great rapport surge out of caring works . If we
ignore others, how can we be friends . Friend in need is a friend in need .
When we offer a
helping hand when they are away, we are
good neighbours . An eye on neighbourhood activities will keep our children,
men and women safe and that confidence
that someone is watching is a great comfort. But do not be nagging . Nagging destroys peace and tranquility and
then no one can concentrate on anything , neither studies or work. .
For a broken pipe line , in the capital
city, how many people are there for scolding and shouting !!!! This shows the
efficiency and co -operation of the capital city inhabitants.
For scolding,
volunteers appear from everywhere .
Is it freedom to “
scold “ . When will we adult citizens
grow up and behave with maturity caring for the country. They do not like the
freedom fighters. Here we do not even volunteer to repair a broken drinking
water pipeline . Can we be more patriotic in “everyday life” .
When we break the
cars, buses, shops, harm people leading to hospitalization and even death and
depraving the welfare of those families
and cause so much damage, we will not spend Rs. 50 =00 for repairing a pipeline
!!!!
