TREE PLANTING IN CITIES AFTER THE CYCLONE
Suppose we plant mango trees, almonds, pistachio, rambuttan, logan, chamba, walnut , logan or any fruit tree that can survive in our Chennai climate in the placed where the trees were uprooted, we will have good shady trees with strong tap root and plenty of nuts every year. Any way we water all the trees in the gardens , parks and pavement and give manure also. Why not nurture some fruit trees and are profitable for us. These do not shed their leaves much. The trees which has comparatively small size fruit is better so that they will not break the glass of cars or injure if it falls on us. Almonds, pista, walnut, rambuttan etc are not heavy to harm any one.
The span of life of these trees are much more than that of the " flame of the forest " and the trunk is more sturdy to withstand the storm and rain. If the branches of the Pista ot walnut or Almond comes into the compound of the residence plots, they would rather keep them than cutting it off if they are allowed to partake of the fruits that are within their compound wall !!!! Consequently the trees will grow straight instead of leaning on to the middle of the road because the balance is affected by cutting the branches near the compound wall of the plots.
We have already thousands of tamarind and neem trees which are more than hundred years old.
