AM I MY BROTHER’S KEEPER ?
When we are watchful for the safety and security of all around us,
our children, men and women will have
the feeling of safety and security in each neighbourhood and each state and
each country.
Just the awareness that the people in a
particular locality is mindful of their people, their locality and the
activities thereof , will be a warning for miscreants. Then the police and the security agencies
will have their work made easy. The police knows that they will be informed of
any slight disharmony, or strife and can tackle them and bring under control
before violence erupts. Prevention is
better than cure. Do not wait the brewing disharmony to become an unwieldy
strike and violence. But the government should not shelter and protect their
own party people when their own people
make violence. The governing party is in full responsibility than the
opposition party because they have promised the people to safeguard not only
their own party people but the whole
state and the whole country when they
are voted to power !!!! They can never shake away that responsibility .
Or they should
never have promised to protect them !! Once promised , fulfill that promise .
Then you can include all the achievements in the next election manifesto. The people also have their
share to contribute to the safety of all .
When each and every individual as a
democratic citizen, execute the power
of freedom and liberty, naturally it
ensures others freedom and liberty .
when we enjoy ours without blocking and obstruction
of other’s freedom, there is “ space “ for everyone . When we observe this “
undrawn boundaries “ , free flow of
activity in all sphere is ensured . Respect
for those who should be respected, honour to those who should be honoured, acknowledgement to those who should be
acknowledged, work properly done ,
studies and teaching done well, . Uttermost co operation and vigilance and
sustained enthusiasm will bring forth in course of time. Instant” results
cannot be produced . The main reason , cause and draw back is because it is we
ourselves who has to bri nature and do consistent work, as we have seen in
several areas , starting with sports, education etc we can achieve. If other
people can achieve , why can’t we achieve it. After all , we have the heritage
and value system of thousands of years . When the foundation, the root and the
values are great, excellent result has to follow. The accumulated wisdom and
integrity, and honesty are great assets upon which further progress is
easier. It all depends on the present
generation. After us , it depends on the succeeding generation. Generation
after generation, it should be kept “ renewed and rejuvenated and resilient and
vibrant “ constantly without fault . The vibrancy and energy level of this
chain should never be broken. Once broken , repair and scar and welding never
bring it to the former high performance level .May be after two or three generation, they may
struggle to bring it to high level again if few are willing to put in their
best effort .
When our children
or dear ones are away, in strange
countries or places, we hope that they will come in contact with some one who
is trust worthy and safe to be in their company. That is what we
say ” to be the keeper
“ , it is not standing at the gate keeping watch. In olden days , the kings and the ministers and the elite used to sit at the gate and conducted the affairs of the country and to make decisions as we read in the Bible. Here sitting at the gate does not mean a watchman of our present day perspective .The durbar is another variation . The eye of vigilance is not for police and defence personnel alone . People who go early for work, have informed the army of the presence of enemy forces in the neighbourhood. Such information has saved our country in the past .Even when we cross the road, we express our vigilance to protect ourselves . One small child was at the traffic junction to cross but with the green, red and amber lights blinking alternately, the child could not decide what to do. One elderly lady came that way. She said . I am afraid to cross the road. can you hold my hand till we reach the other side. The child was only too glad to help her. So hand in hand , they crossed The road . The old lady thanked the child profusely. They went in different direction. When the child looked back , she was not blind or weak as she said. She was walking briskly. Then the child understood how great that lady was helping her ,without showing her knowledge of what the child was really going through in
his / her mind, without hurting the ego, as if the child was helping her, she brought the child to the destination. How much we boast before and after we do a little help . If we give a little care for each other , there is nothing to be afraid of.
You yourself as well as those who care for you are at rest , no worry . In our journey of life, how many great events take place ? We can count them . Every day of our life , whether it is sixty or eighty or hundred or more, it is paved with little events and happiness and work and pleasant and unpleasant things, So , as far as possible, in our capacity and influence, if we create little pleasant memorable occurrences , the woven piece of our life will be miraculous and praiseworthy. That we can achieve without hurting others . Once hurt and murder and unpleasantness occur, they mar our life and no repair can bring it back together, . Time just move on and does not wait for anyone . Therefore let us make use of our every minute as if it is the last minute . Then we will not break any family, we will not meddle with others vocation and calling which is of an entirely different nature. we can complement but interference will be detrimental to society and country. Once unrest set in it will eat into our lives and relationships get violated and torn apart . Let us not initiate such behaviour. All are adults and know what to do , what not to do . We trust family members. We trust neighbours. We trust country men
and our leaders .
