USES OF EXCESS GRAINS AND PUILSES , GRAMS , LEGUMES , OIL SEEDS

From the desk of Mrs. Baby Abraham . . . . . .

1.       USES OF  EXCESS  GRAINS AND PUILSES  , GRAMS  ,             LEGUMES , OIL SEEDS

When there is excess of production ,  Indians and India  government officials are at a loss to manage  these abundance !

 Solutions
1 .  Animal husbandry people usually use the oil cakes , coconut, sesame, peanut cakes etc for cattle feed and to feed birds and fowls, ducks etc . If these cakes after removing the protein rich oil is beneficial, how much more useful will be the oil seeds without removing the oil from them. That will be very nutritious for the cows, buffalos and bulls , goats etc . .  You will get more milk from them since this is more protein rich . The farmers do not have to suffer due to lack of buyers !  It is a win win situation for the agriculturists and for animal husbandry people and organizations .

2.        You can sprout the grams, dals, pulses and grains  and use ad feeds after one or two weeks growth. It will be much more nutritious  as we also eat sprouted beans and pulses for their protein rich content !
3.        Include much more peanuts, sesame sweets or fried or roasted in school meals.
4.        As we use oil cakes for manure for agriculture ,
5.        Use the whole seeds ground  and add to the compost  for more agricultural productivity. Do not waste the excess.  We may be able to export at some point of time . European countries, when they had excess butter or ghee or milk powder and when they were not able to find market and were not allowed to give free to developing countries because of religious prejudices , used to make cattle feed out of the butter and ghee. In turn their cows produced more milk. Whenever market availability was there they used to export .
6.        - Just roast the coconut, peanut, sesame, and other nuts which are in excess,
-  plus, dates minced  and all excess fruits pureed or sun dried or dehydrated on machines like the “ tea leaves drying machine “
- plus add some jiggery which is in plenty all over India  and - - make bars or balls or squares and
- distribute them in schools or  welfare shelters, or slum areas or whoever needs them
- . through Ration Shops at minimum price so that high nutritious , protein rich food is freely and easily available
to all .
Thus we can use all excess seed, nuts, fruits  to good use .
Let us be truly self sufficient in nutritious  food

2.    USE OF RICE , WHEAT, FODDER

1.   Farmers can easily sell them to cattle farms in the neighborhood instead of burning them .
2.   On one side there is shortage of fodder for animals and on the other side farmers are burning the hay and there by causing smoke, soot and air pollution  and generating all lung diseases, other health problems . Traffic  problems due to lack of visibility on highways  and main roads of the capital city !!!!
3.   Mulching of the same hay in the farm land itself. Just plough the fields soon after the harvest         and leave the furrows and the hay in the field itself. If possible add some cow dung before ploughing.  This well mixed soil will produce an enriched soil after the showers so that no further preparation is needed before sowing !!!  If some one foot deep patches  are made randomly, when the rain come, water will be collected in those sunken areas and make the field more wet and moisture for the seed to be sprouted . Water will automatically level up the ground  . Only weeds have to be removed if there are any .
This is a better alternative to burning and air pollution .
