COTTON FARMING
1. Cotton farming requires 25 0 c .
2. Proper sunshine and humid warm air
“ is ideal condition for high yield.
3. Crop rotation enhances productivity of
all the crops.
Suggestions :
Screens
of hay .
a. Lay
chicken mesh or perforated plastic sheets on the ground.
Spread hay on one side , one or two feet thickness and fix it with another chicken mesh or perforated plastic sheet.
Install poles in the field and fix these hay screen wherever needed, depending
on the wind flow. Fix a water tap or sprinkler at the top so that it can water
the crop as well as keep the hay moist for a week at a time and the cool humid
wind will make the crop prosper and yield more.
b. Holes
or open space can be made in the screen for the free flow of air and wind so
that they will not fall down in windy
climate. Because the atmosphere
is kept humid, less water will be required for the crop. You can save water.
BENEFITS :
1.
Air pollution by burning the hay can be avoided.
2.
Even if you heap up hay on
several locations of the field and pour water once a week, that will keep the
atmosphere cool.
3.
When the heap degenerate,
spread it in the field as compost without any extra effort of making it.
4.
As soon as one crop is harvested,
immediately , plough the field with tractor and leave it, By the time the next
seeding time comes , the land will be more fertile , enriched by the ploughed up
hay and leaves and stalks.
If you put some cow dung also, all the more fertile it
will be.
Simple steps any
farmer can put into practice on a trial basis .
