 FORMALIN AND FISHERMEN’S WOES

Fishermen’s woes are never ending.  To get a good catch, they struggle in the deep sea !!!! When they get abundant fish, they have no means to keep them fresh.!!!  Some one told them the corrupt way of using formalin and when applied they were satisfied by the appearance and firmness of the fish. These poor fish folk do not have any idea of the health hazards they are causing. We cannot blame them because they were not given proper guidance by the fisheries department.  Show them what to do. Show them how to do. Show them the healthy way.

1.      Solar  powered ice making machines can be made available  where the fishermen live. Solar panels , one large container for storing water which can be let into big trays of 5 kg , 10 kg or 20 kg , 50 kg etc and the collecting chamber or room with solar panel on top. Once it is established, all the fishermen can take any          mount of ice freely. Make sure that a water tap is very near to the installation. Even sea water can be used for making ice. Cooling process will be enhanced by salinity of water.  If the tap is not near it, people will find it difficult to bring water and each one will expect or blame others for bringing water. Every one who takes ice should fill the tank with water.

2.    Each boat can have their own solar chamber. If the boat is small. Small chamber, if the boat is big, big chamber. They can put some ice also if they want before starting from the shore.

3. Give proper instructions so that everyone can have healthy food.  Expense for the solar can be recovered soon once people know that their fish is devoid of formalin.

4. Formalin is used to preserve dead animals in the laboratory. These specimens will remain for hundreds of years once they are immersed in formalin. All museums preserve the dead animals in formalin.
